BASIC Springs into Action

From our friends at the American Baseball Foundation:

What’s more fun than playing games, winning achievement tickets and avoiding the “tag”? According to BASIC after-school students, nothing! For the last fifteen years, the ABF has partnered with its sister organization Better Basics, Inc. to provide a learning atmosphere to which children love to return. Over the decades we have partnered with Better Basics to run in-school BASIC, summer BASIC and after-school BASIC. Don’t be confused by the seemingly overlapping names. Our joint objective--to instill the love of reading among our charges—is crystal clear.

As spring begins and gently drifts into summer, the ABF is very appreciative of our Better Basics’ partnership and that of all our partners who share our vision--to transform the life trajectory of at-risk children and youth. Please join us this summer for our most extensive BASIC outreach to date. Here’s what one first-year BASIC student noted:

“I like being here because I get to learn new stuff in reading and math and soccer. I used to not like soccer and baseball but until I played soccer and baseball I liked it a lot. I like soccer a lot. It’s very easy making friend here. I made 3 friends.” George
