Stars abound at the American Baseball Foundation’s 18th annual Lead Off Dinner scheduled for Friday January, 18, 2019. Atlanta Braves slugger David Justice headlines the dinner event that raises funds for the ABF BASIC program. For the evening Justice is joined by former teammate Johnny Estrada and Boston Red Sox great Bernie Carbo. Also ABF board chair and internationally renowned orthopedic surgeon James R. Andrews M.D. will address the Central Alabama public. The dinner opens with an extensive silent auction and free autographs signed by Estrada and Carbo.
Given by the Protective Health Corporation, the ABF will award the Richard C. Sweeney Sr. scholarship for college education to a former BASIC participant and volunteer. Also David Justice memorabilia will be raffled for all attendees.
ABC33/40 James Spann will MC the event and lead the audience in questioning Justice regarding the two World Series championship teams he led. Tickets and sponsorships are still available for the dinner event that normally lasts three hours, including the MLB signers’ corner.
